Democratic Congressional Candidate Joel Tyner (for New York State’s 19th Congressional District) will be holding a press conference/rally today at 2:00 p.m. where the Sawkill meets the Zena Cornfield. This beautiful spot is not part of the NYC watershed, and is not protected from the effects of hydrofracking. Joel was instrumental in cleaning up the damage from MTBE (a gasoline additive) during his five terms as a county legislator in Dutchess County, and has worked tirelessly to ban fracking in New York State.
By the end of the public comment period in January of 2012, the NYS DEC had received over 66,000 comments on the revised DSGEIS, more comments than they had ever received on any issue, and the comments were overwhelmingly (approximately 9 to 1) against fracking.
It is imperative that our government officials listen to the will of the people regarding hydrofracking; New York State’s people, water, agriculture & tourism are at stake—one can’t drink a glass of natural gas. Please show your support and come to this rally today!
